If it won't change then there'll be no players left in a few weeks. Nobody will care about the singleplayer campaign after it will be fully released. But people will still play MP months after that. I've joined a PvP only server yesterday to check how MP performance is without AI, 48 players, but vehicles teleported x meters forth and back and when a player ejected from a vehicle the same happened, the player was moved in front and behind the vehicle. Let alone that everything else was lagging as hell (not used to that when I play another game with 64 players). (Could be of course the mission or the server but I doubt that a simple PvP mission can be so resource hungry that it fucks up everything, and even if it was the mission, there are no tools to determine what's the problem is). Yes im sure that the MP game should be more than capable of running 64 players and certainly PvP. I must admit was i was surprised that a game like this suffers so badly in ways others excel in. My only fear is its being left behind in a genre it should be leading... We have noticed some major resource changing since the last stable release, be it changes in the last version of Domination (Awaiting the Change over to the latest at our end) or via BIS and Arma itself. It seems to be using a lot less memory than it was prior. We currently have now got the HC back on and it seems more stable than ever. We have tried as best to remove the spam from the rpt (No logs rules ) I am surprised there is so much spam, a lot of which i would have hoped had been removed prior to full game release. For something they expect New people to pay full price for i cant see many people not asking for refunds... Compare it to BF4 and COD Ghosts... and see the polished versions of games, although not my cup of tea... At least your paying top dollar for a finished product... Champy |

Hi Leute,

It's just my opinion, but I simply don't understand why VAS is so popular, especially when;
*Mission editors can edit the dom boxes to have as much or as little as they want (I moved uniform items to a second base box) *The nasty gear dialog flicking to top bug was fixed (me and champy hassled DNA to get this fixed) *VAS dialog is too small *Current Domina saves loadout to profile name space <---- soooo cool! *The upcoming Xeno gear dialog is looking properly sexy. Sure, VAS is a cute piece of code that automatically gets its fill from config so that it automatically senses addons, but as far as I can see, that's all it has going for it. |

Feature request:
The wreck repair point unhooks a wreck from the wreck chopper when the wreck is over the point. Can we have the same functionality for the vehicle service point, please? I ask because if a lift chopper flies a damaged vehicle onto the VSP, reload.sqf turns the lift chopper engine off, usually causing the lift chopper to crash. I guess this is a side effect of attachto being used to weld the lift chopper and sling load together? I notice we can stop the service point turning engines off, but it still takes all the fuel away, which effectively does the same thing. Thanks, T |

Not possible without expensive checks and lots of scripting. The wreck point is constantly scanning for wrecks and deletes a wreck immediately once a wreck is over it. And the wreck lift chopper stops the lift script then because the lifted object is a null object once deleted. Now in case of vehicle service this would mean constantly checking for a vehicle, check if it gets lifted by a lift chopper, tell the client who is pilot of the lift chopper to detach the lifted object. Send a message back to the client/server where the once lifted object is local to do service and so on. All in all not worth it (and to actually start the service the vehicle needs a driver anyway). So simply spoken, it works fine and is quite an easy system for the wreck point because the wreck gets deleted but needs much too much work to get it done right for a service point. If somebody wants to implement it, go ahead. I have, as already written, no plans to get back to Alpha 3 till BI puts more effort into the MP part of the game. Xeno

Thanks, Xeno. You've explained it excellently and I can now see the difference in the way the wreck and service points work. You're right, it would be too expensive to do. |

Multiplayer not in playable state
This is another example how the game currently looks like in MP (I think it's Wasteland so without AI but I've seen that on a "normal" PvP server too...):
Somebody should tell BI that it wasn't some singleplayer campaign or singleplayer mod which boosted A2/OA sales years after release... Xeno

That build was just meant as a last test with higher player numbers for one server. Compared to previous versions it has very aggressive cleanup routines, keeps all mission object numbers under 1000 or at 1000 and disables simulation of all destroyed vehicles (server and client), etc. (during my own testing server FPS stayed near 50 all the time (one client on the server), so I'm pretty sure it's not the scripting or anything else a mission maker can do wrong). The test itself, with more players, failed. Nothing changed, as soon as the player numbers rise, FPS go down to hell. Anyway, as people want to have this version here it is as 2.99t: Download 2.99t No new version (if at all) before I finally see some efforts from BIS regarding MP because like many others I'm tired of reading changelog entries like this one "Added compass to all positions in Speedboat". It's almost 2014, time for them to get their asses up and bring their 2001 engine to 2014 standards. Btw, with stable patch 1.06 they introduced a shitty bug for MP, chat disappears if you press ESC. It is fixed in the DEV build but the stable branch which 90%+ of the online players use still suffers from this. Why wasn't a hotfix released? I thought it's easy now because of Steam. Xeno
