The weather was always a local thing in the Arma series...
At least you were able to sync it somehow even if it wasn't perfect in previous titles. But in A3 there is now a 30 minute overcast period and you can't set it lower than 30 minutes anymore.
And if you want to change overcast with the setovercast scripting command you have to change it quite early (preInit or early init.sqf) otherwise the mission.sqm settings will override it.
And if a client JIPs in 10 minutes after mission start he will fall under the 30 minutes restriction thus the weather is completely out of sync on clients.

Hey Xeno,
First I want to thank you for continuing development of your incredible mission on Arma 3, I have been playing Domination for many years and it's probably the best thing in the Arma series.
I wanted to ask, because I edit it in the editor to my liking (hope this is not a problem), can I just swap the "mission.sqm" from the "j" version that I already worked on to the new version. I don't remove anything, just add and change position of vehicles and objects. Do you change any code in that file on new versions (it would save me a lot of time)?
Also I want to add a custom sound (alarm) to the main target when a player has been spotted and reinforcements are being called. Can somebody help me with that?
And again thanks for everything you have done man and keep up the good work!

There are some new markers for sidemissions in the mission.sqm file, you have to take care of them and copy them over as otherwise the mission will break (the markers are beeing used for sidemission positions, it's easier to copy them over to a new island than getting all the positions manually ).

Regarding sounds, make sure you add the sound to description.ext CfgSounds and add a playsound in x_setupplayer.sqf where the message gets displayed when a player got spotted.

Hi Xéno,

in First, Thanks and excellent work for the Domination! (Arma2 & Arma3)

I have to download the domination 2.99k and I customized it (vehicles and objects) and added VAS 1.6 it but sometimes at the time of the respawm, I have a black screen.

I would wish to put VAS it on the D_AMMOLOAD, but my knowledge in script is not terrible. GO functions on the 2 boxs that I have to add to the flag. If you could clear up me on this subject.

And still thank you for this excellent Xéno work.

I don't get any black screen at respawn so I'm of no help here. Maybe VAS causes it, but I can't tell you, I've never used it.

If you want to add actions to boxes dropped from a chopper or MHQ check x_client\x_f\fn_create_boxnet.sqf
And also x_client\x_setuppplayer.sqf, "if (count __XJIPGetVar(GVAR(ammo_boxes)) > 0) then {" so that JIP clients do also get the action.

Hi, Xéno

I have to add vehicles (2 terrestrial AH-99 and 8 vehicles) with script vehicle. Sqf (init “veh [this, 30,0,0, FALSE, FALSE] execVM “vehicle.sqf”; ”; ).

I think that the conflict come from there, because the black screen is with the respawn when I die in a vehicle.

I will test ATM_airdrops script and will try to integrate it.

I thank you for your answer, I will look at that as fast as possible

Hi All,
I'm not a fan of VAS system. I rather prefer Ranked version of the game. what I've noticed ppl go into game, load gear - of course - sniper rifles with tonnes of ammo and kill almost all enemies. On 20 slots server half are snipers...

What I miss on ranked server is able to save points on server restart. I've tried arma2net , it works but database does not load saved points into game. Only message is shown: "you've been playing on this server 10hrs2mins, your score is 10 points.
If points are checked on domination show status screen, it shows 0. I would like to keep points on server restart. Anyway I keep looking for solution.

I've tried A2Net with A3 only once and it simply crashed the game (though that was months ago so it might be better now).
That's the reason I did not invest any more time into DomDatabase...

I have therefore make modifications, everything works normally, VAS, the HALO and I have no more black screen on the respawn, thank you very much Xéno.

Be sure to create an empty marker called "xr_playerparkmarker" somewhere (if a player runs out of revive lifes he is "parked" there and does only see the spectating dialog and he is not visible to other players).

Die nächste Version (dann 3) wird endlich das beinhalten was ich schon seit Jahren rein machen wollte, Resourcen Management.

War bislang nie möglich weil einfach die Befehle zum Lesen von ammo, fuel und repair cargo gefehlt haben (und gleiches bei ammo boxen bezügl. ammo, seit heute in der DEV Version, finally).

Wenn dann der Ammo/Fuel/Repair Nachschub mal unterbrochen wird sieht es nicht mehr so rosig aus
Die Spieler werden etwas dafür tun müssen

Edith: Und was ein Glück das ich gerade feststellen musste das das Kommando magazinesExt nicht richtig funktioniert. Es returniert immer die Ammo Count Anzahl des vollen Magazines, selbst wenn ein paar Schuss drin fehlen... lol... einmal mit Profis arbeiten, nur einmal

After much Testing, investigation and asking in the right places, i have it on good authority that the weather is apparently JIP synced when using the Bis Weather Module in the Editor
If what your saying is true with regards to the weather becoming desynced after 30 minutes, and yours changes after 15 minutes ifrc, would a fix possibly be to insert periodic time entries for the weather to change so that if you jip then you would get the weather changed within a few minutes of joining the server?
so if you joined in between you would actually sync with everyone as it would change each time?
i e 15 cloudy, 30 cloudy, 45 sun and cloud, 60 sun, 75 sun and so on....

Just an idea as i really would love to see this working in your mission

Nope, it has the same (JIP) problems as it uses exactly the same scripting commands (setOvercast for example) and the same functionality as I do already since A2 (the module is actually just a script).

The problem simply is that you can't do an immediate overcast change on a client anymore . It always takes 30 minutes (or less or more) till the overcast change finally is done.

It's about time that the game syncs the weather automatically in MP and only the server should be able to change it.
