Ranks

You are awarded ranks based on your score

0 points = PRIVATE

10 points = CORPORAL

30 points = SERGEANT

50 points = LIEUTENANT

100 points = CAPTAIN

200 points = MAJOR

300 points = COLONEL

Each rank unlocks new vehicles for you to drive, new weapons to use and allows you to recruit more men and new types of units into your squad.

Hints

This section contains usefull information that will help you understand the objectives of this mission as well as the equipment that is available to meet those objectives. Please take the time to read it if you're not yet familiar with how things work.

"Automatic Service":
If you're in command of a vehicle (driver/commander/gunner), stop at the airbase, a farp or a dock to be fully serviced (repair and rearm).

"Enemy Officers":
There is an officer in each town, dressed in olive drab. Your objective is to capture and return him to the POW camp near the Mission HQ. If you mange to do so, you'll receive twenty (20) points. In order to capture the officer, you must first identify him (default: right click), then choose the option "CAPTURE" from the action menu. Never shoot the officer as he is always unarmed. It'll cost you thirty (30) points.

"Enemy Vehicles":
Enemy vehicles are now off limits. If you enter the driver seat of any empty enemy vehicle, the vehicle will blow up and kill you. Since there is no feasible way to keep track of players in enemy vehicles, this was implemented and won't be removed. Thanks Fou Yuck !

"Engineers":
If you are an engineer you can set up a FARP (Forward Arming and Refueling Point) when you are near a repair vehicle. If you fully repair a marked vehicle at your farp you will earn points. As engineer your priority must be repair, if you disagree you must choose another slot.

"Game Settings":
You can set your terrain detail (grass), View distance and Air view distance (How far you can see when in a plane or chopper) in the Mission HQ. High settings may slow your system down or even make it unstable.

"Liberating towns":
A town is accounted for as liberated when either all enemy units are dead or a maximum of five (5) infantry units are left. These remaining troops will drop their guns and can be captured and returned to the POW camp (just like the officer) earning you five (5) points per captive. Never shoot an unarmed soldier as it may be someones captive. If you're seen shooting an unarmed soldier you may be kicked/banned from the server.

"Medics":
If you are a medic you can set up a MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) when players heal (enemy inflicted wounds) you get points. As medic your priority must be healing. If you disagree you must choose another slot.

"Missions":
NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE because they were sort of broken and caused to many problems.

"Radio commands":
You have many radio commands that enable you to call for support, recruit new units and view status information. To check out a list of the commands available and a short description of what they do, click here.

"Radio Tower":
Each town contains a radio tower. Your objective is to destroy it. If you manage to destroy it, you will receive ten (10) points. The radio tower can only be destroyed with a satchel charge. Destroying a radio tower will also stop any further reinforcements being sent to the town under siege. Be careful though, there may still be some reinforcements already on the way.

"Recruiting":
You can use the radio menu to recruit AI units to your squad. Depending on your rank, you can recruit up to 7 AI units to your squad. It is also possible to have AI and human players mixed in a squad, but there can only be one commander controling the AI units.

"Scoreboard":
You can see your current points (score) on the scoreboard (default: press "I"). If you disconnect and reconnect, your score and rank will be retained until the game ends or restarts. When the game restarts, everybody starts again with zero (0) points and a rank of Private.

"Squad Transfer":
You can request to be transfered to another squad in the Mission HQ. If you want to team up with your buddies, make sure that you all join the same squad. You'll then be able to work as a group and locate each other and send team radio messages.

"Transport Rewards":
You can earn points by carrying soldiers into battle. Transporting soldiers from main base to the frontline will be rewarded with one (1) point per transported unit. This map heavily relies on people willing to transport people. Please give the pilots some credit for doing their job and don't start cursing at them just because they where shot down and you died. Without them, you'd have to drive for ages to get back to the front line when the game progresses.

"ROE (Rules Of Engagement)":
If you kill any unarmed enemy soldier, you will be fined five (5) points. If you kill the enemy officer, you will be fined thirty (30) points. Violating the ROE (Rules Of Engagement) is a serious crime. Even in war there are some rules that you MUST follow.

"Waypoints":
As a squad leader you can add and remove squad waypoints. To add a waypoint, open the map press "CTRL" and left click on the map where you want the waypoint to be created. In order to remove the waypoint, press "ALT" and left click on the map where the waypoint is being displayed.

"Weapon camera":
Some vehicles use a weapon camera. The weapon camera follows a rocket that is being fired until it hits the target. The weapon camera is available from the action menu if the vehicle supports it (AV8B / AV8B2 / A10 / AH-1Z). To revert back to your normal view press any key.

This section contains information about the additional features available in this version of Evolution.

"Mando Hitching":
You can transport light vehicles (HMMWV, M113) using the UH60 and UH60MG. In order to transport a vehicle, hover lower than ten (10) meters above the vehicle you want to transport and use the action menu to attach the vehicle to a virtual rope. If you want to drop the vehicle off again, hover lower than ten (10) meters above ground and use the action menu again to release the vehicle.

"Mando Bombs":
The support radio menu is your interface to mando bombs, giving you many support options starting with vehicle supply and cruise missiles, it will add many new possibilities to the gameplay as you move up in points and rank. Be aware that all vehicle support originates from "San Tomas", a small deserted island south of Cayo. If you order a vehicle it will be transported from "San Tomas" to the locations of your choice.

Keep in mind that if the path to that location is not clear of enemy AA, your support is very likely to be shot down. The AI piloting the transport chopper will always choose the shortest route to the selected destination. Make sure that path is clear of enemy AA before ordering a vehicle to be transported there.

PLEASE NOTE: Be aware that the support options that rely on Mando Bombs (Cruise Missile, Gunship Support, Air Support AV8B2, Air Support A10, Laser Guided Rockets and Cruise Missile Spread) will not give you any points yet ! I'm working on a fix for that. Unfortunately the way that score accounting in Evolution works is different and for the time being incompatible to the method used for "Mando Bombs".

"Respawn Dialog":

DEACTIVATED because it wasn't working correctly. I may spend some time on it again at a later point.

"Sounds":
I've replaced the sounds from the original version of Evolution with some more heavy stuff. I figured that a war will hardly go down on a funky beat.
